The Last Exit For The Lost Apocalyptic Underground Radio

This week we were joined not only by Tim Binder, but also Rick of The Metallic Onslaught, but also RJ of Rip Open the Sky. We did a Tribute to music that came out in 1986, and the background music for the night was all from the TV series, Babylon 5, as one of the actors, Jerry Doyle, passed away this week. 

Present were, EVD, Nathan, Just Joe, Tim, and, Crappy The Clown, who later became one of his many alternate personalities, Vilified, then, later, Crappy, and then, well, not Crappy. The band Sucker was there for about the first half of the program. They performed a couple of multi song sets live. It sounded great, once again, a shout out to Nathan for doing such a great job running the sound. After their performance, the band was interviewed, it was their first time here, and a track from their CD was played. The Person Formerly Known As Crappy The Clown Played a game which he has played here before, called Is It Legal, he had with him a toy gun that was made in 1987, coincidentally, which could do some pretty damaging shooting, and looked real, and asked if it was still legal to have. It had to be researched, I think the answer was mostly no. Tim picked out one of the musical sets from 1987, as he had for one of the years last week. It was on the glamy side, as you would expect from Tim, Azkath gave it mixed reviews. I loved it. There were segments of Movie Time, a Netflix series was talked about as well...

Present were, EVD, Nathan, Becka, Bi-Coastal Tim, Tim and Olivia, from the band Undead Messengers, and a band. Oh, wait... There was no band, but Nathan thought that there was going to be, so he got The Performance Room all set up with new equipment that he had acquired, and was very proud of, even getting there two whole hours early, which he never does, only, he was totally mistaken in thinking that there was going to be a band there this night (except for the members of Undead Messengers, of course, but, they weren't there to perform). Poor Nathan's brain must be damaged from attending, first Furry Fest, and then, the next week, Bronie Con. I mean, that can really mess someone up. So poor Nathan had to spend a good portion of the night dismantling everything he had taken all that time to set up for no reason. Instead of spotlighting, musically, just one year this night, for one night only, The Wheel Of Doom was marked with years, people took turns spinning it, and the year it landed on, a set of music was played from that year. So, the years 1991, 1994, 1989, and, the decade of the 1970's were spotlighted, the 1970's was done as a whole decade, because there wasn't enough metal back then to do every year. Azkath played about five minutes of an interview he had conducted with Steve Handell, the vocalist, lead guitarist, and, rhythm guitarist for the band 7th Calling, you can find the rest of the interview on this web site. The interview was followed by one of their songs. It rocked. Becka was dressed up like Peecachoo, from Pokimon, which drew her a lot of unwanted attention, like suggestions that they play tug of war, using the Peecachoo as the rope. There were segments of Movie Time, some TV programs were talked about as well. Some more of those "Shower Thoughts", from Tumblr, were read. And, Nathan announced that he has started a GoFundMe account to raise money for new and better equipment, so that the bands who perform here, when there actually is a band performing(!), will sound even better than they already do, thanks to his running it, say whatever else you will about him, and there is plenty to say(!), he is very good at that! Present were, Nathan, EVD, Just Joe, Tim, Rob, and, former co-host and vocalist for the band Chamber Law, Dee. Three bands were present for about the first half of the program, Sanjuro Fields, Genitor, and, Jared Light. Jared performed live, and the other two acts brought up their CD's, from which three songs each were played. They are all cool, and you can find them all on Bandcamp and Facebook, among other places. Rob told us a bit about the two bands he is actively in currently, both his metal bands are on hiatus, but he is in a hard rock band, Stranded With A Kiss, and a ska band, Viva The Mayhem. Dee had no voice, she had a bad cold, but she still made her presence felt, especially by Just Joe, because they would ask her questions, and tell her to answer by punching Just Joe once, if the answer was yes, and, twice, if the answer was no. Poor Just Joe got punched a lot this night. Also, Dee killed Hatty, Just Joe's tin foil hat, which he is very attached to, just like he was to Cuppy, back in the day. Dee crushed Hatty up and stomped on it. At the end of the night, they threw the remains of Hatty away, and made Just Joe cry. We spotlighted musically the year 1997. Present were, EVD, Just Joe, R.J., and Dustin. We revisited the year 1983 for three hours. Part of an interview was aired that Azkath had conducted with Rayman James, of the band Malice, followed by one of their songs. They're cool. Just Joe was still wearing his tin foil hat that he had been wearing the last time he was here, to protect him from Azkath using mind control on him. By the end of the night it had a name, Hatty. Hatty got passed around by various people, and crumpled. Near the end of the night, Just Joe had it back, but they kept confusing him, asking him if he was sure it was his Hatty, maybe they had crumpled it up and thrown it in the road, and replaced it with an impostor? also, Azkath said he had a message to read from a sponsor. It said, "This edition of "The Last Exit For The Lost" was brought to you by the three spiders hiding on Just Joe's body". Just Joe freaked out, looking frantically for the spiders, even throwing Hatty on EVD's head to do so. At the end of the night, Just Joe was still confused about if it was his Hatty, but then he asked Chuck, of "The Salt Creek Show" if it was the right one, Chuck said it was, an that was all the convincing Just Joe needed. There were segments of Movie Time, some books were discussed as well. Topics were discussed like the Poki Mon To Go game, and, a particularly bad wrestling match between The Hardy Brothers in TNA. Some more of those "Shower Thoughts" from Tumbler were read. Too bad The Late Not So Great Zoltan wasn't there, he would have been in his glory, three hours of metal from his absolute favorite year, 1983! But, a clip from a "The Best Of The Last Exit For The Lost" was played, where he talks about 1983... Nathan was absent because he was attending Bronie Con, even though he is no longer a Bronie. Last year he spent $500 there! Nathan, again, Let me take some of that money off your hands, you obviously have plenty of it to waste! I'm sure we will hear all about Bronie Con, and the event he was at last week, Furry Fest, when he returns. Nathan, you freak!

Present were, EVD, and, The Person Formerly Known As, And, Occasionally, Still Known As, Crappy The Clown. Nathan wasn't there because he was attending a furry festival! And, next week, even though we cured him of being a Bronie, he will be attending Bronie Con! Dude(!), there is something seriously wrong with you! You should seek therapy! Azkath aired part of an interview he had conducted with the guitarist for the band HelionPrime, followed by one of their songs, it was cool. We spotlighted musically the year 1996. There were segments of Movie Time. Some other topics were discussed. Azkath read some more of those funny, but accurate, "ShowerThoughts", from Tumblr. The Person Formerly Known As Crappy The Clown serenaded me, singing "I've Had The Time Of My Life", from the movie "Dirty Dancing", as the Friday before this LE, July 1st, was My Birthday. Azkath ended the program by sending out a song to me, for My Birthday, one of my favorite songs of all time, in any genre of music, and I like a lot of genres of music, and it is also appropriate, as we just rapped up our Anniversary month, last week, because this song has a history with this program, as the first host, Jrrbbl, when it was called "Rockin' The Night Away", used to end the program every week with this song, Andy Prieboy's "Tomorrow Wendy". Thanks guys, I loved my serenade, and my song! I really appreciate it!

Present were, Nathan, EVD, Just Joe, and, R.J.. Just Joe arrived wearing a tin foil hat, which he said was to protect him from Azkath using his telepathic powers to control his mind and make him do stuff. They kept trying to confuse him all night, which isn't that hard to do, it is Just Joe, after all, by making him doubt whether he was doing, or not doing, stuff because he wanted, or didn't want to, or because of mind control. At the end of the night, Azkath hypnotized Just Joe into thinking his tin foil hat was Cuppy, the cup Just Joe had drawn a face on a decade ago, he had named it Cuppy, and had been severely traumatized when it was deliberately destroyed. Now everyone was trying to touch his hat, Just Joe became more and more agitated, and finally ran out of the building, screaming.

R.J. has a new band, which will soon be performing live for us, as soon as they have a name (Rip Open the Sky), among other things.

Azkath aired part of an interview he had conducted with Jeff Martin, the vocalist for the band Blasted to Static. He has also been a part of countless other bands, including Racer-X. Before the interview, a Racer X song was played, and, at it's conclusion, a Blast To Static song was played. You can find the full interview in the Interview section of the page.

A bunch more clips from "The Best Of The Last Exit For The Lost" CD's were played, featuring such voices from the past as The Late And Not So Much Lamented Zoltan, Vern, Shoebox, Crappy The Clown, Rub Mc'Groin, Chuck The Canadian, and others, as it was the final LE in the month of June, and we have been looking back all month, as June third marked the twenty second Anniversary of Azkath's taking over running the program. A couple more of the many, many bands who have been here in some way or another were featured as well.

So another quiet night, with myself, Azkath, Nathan, EVD, and "Doctor Dakota Wheeler". Dylan joined us near the end. We heard some clips from years back with The Almighty Monkey and Crappy the Clown, and The Almighty Monkey was listening, and Dakota seemed to remember them as if, he himself, was Crappy the Clown... So Strange. We did a Tribute to 1993 this night as well. Also included is a short version of my interview with Vanlade, the full one of which can be found in the interview section. 

So, the day after this show, I, Azkath, was going to do a presentation at Fortfest, which was related to my other radio show, Where Did the Road Go?. Knowing I was going to be up for a very long time, I let Just Joe, Nathan, and EVD start the show for me while I napped. They did well, I think. I took over about 2 hours in, and we did a Tribute to 1992. I also played a bunch of bands that have been in studio over the last 22 years...

So this week we had Take Two back in studio to perform. They had planned on having a new CD by now, but things did not work out like they wanted. Regardless, they came and they played. Check them out on Facebook. 

This was also the 22nd Anniversary of Me, Azkath, doing The Last Exit for the Lost. Well, not exactly, it would have been June 3rd, and it wasn't The Last Exit back then, it was The Metal Cage. June 2nd is the first night I was on the air, and I've been on almost every week since (only missing a handful over the 22 year period.) When I came in, the show was on Fridays, I moved it to Saturday not to overlap The Metallic Onslaught. Instead of a Tribute to any year this night, I played about 2 hours of bands that have been in studio with us over the years, some playing live. I also snuck in some material from our Best of Cd's.
